Beginner - Intro to Casino and Rueda de Casino:   This class is for anyone! Perfect for brand new beginner dancers or dancers who have never taken a Cuban Salsa class before. No partner, fancy shoes or special clothing needed. Come comfortable and ready to move and make new friends. We will focus on the fundamentals of dancing Casino and building a strong foundation of the core movements both in and out of a Rueda.    What is Casino? Casino, commonly referred to as “Cuban Salsa” Is a Cuban dance, developed in the early 50's in Cuba originated from Son Cubano. It is a fusion of figures and turns adopted from Son, cuban mambo, cha cha cha and rumba guaguanco. It is danced to an 8 count repeated pattern starting on the 1st beat, similar to salsa on 1, but with different leads, follows and positioning. Casino is danced to Timba music, the music played in Casinos Deportivios - sports clubs where people would go to dance and listen to live music. Casino is a partner dance like salsa, bachata, merengue, but it can also be danced as a formation known as Rueda de Casino (Wheel of Casino Dancing). In this formation, infinite number of partners will form a circle. There is one caller who will name movements, which the entire circle of partners will then perform in unison. This is a great way to interact and dance with everyone and rotate partners seamlessly during one song. It is also a way for different citys/towns/neighborhoods to develop their own styles and movements and show off.   This is a beginner level class. * NOTE: We do have a cancellation policy. We ask that you cancel before the 12-hour mark of the registered class to receive the credit back onto your account to use for the next class. If you need to cancel your reservation, please do so ASAP as there are waitlists. You may cancel your reservation up until the 12-hour mark without penalty. After you register for a class, you’ll receive an email titled “Your Upcoming Class at Esquina” as a class reminder 24 hours before your registered class. That class reminder email will state this policy as well as remind you the deadline of canceling that registered class and will include a “CANCEL” button at the bottom of the email in red to remind you that you have up until that time to cancel. **No refunds or rescheduling** By registering for the class, you have read all of the information above and agree to our terms and conditions.
