Advanced Competition Judo Class By Invitation Only Our Advanced Competition Judo Class is designed for dedicated athletes who are ready to take their Judo to the next level. This class focuses on high-intensity training, competition strategies, and advanced techniques to prepare students for local, regional, and national competitions. Eligibility: To participate in this class, students must be selected by the Sensei based on their technical ability, commitment, and competitive mindset. We also welcome experienced competitors from other dojos who are interested in trying out for the team. However, all new participants must undergo approval by the Sensei before joining. In this class, athletes will work on: Advanced throws, grips, and counters Tactical strategies for competition Conditioning specific to Judo competition Mental preparation and focus for high-pressure matches Refining timing, speed, and technique in a competitive setting The training environment is intense, with an emphasis on individual improvement, teamwork, and the competitive spirit. Students will receive personalized feedback to help them prepare for tournaments and challenges ahead. All athletes are expected to demonstrate the physical and mental readiness required for advanced competition. Commitment: This class demands a high level of dedication and regular attendance. Athletes are expected to participate in regular practices and demonstrate their commitment to growth in Judo. Proper Attire: All students must wear a clean Judo gi (uniform). If your child does not yet have one, please let us know so we can assist with purchasing. For hygiene purposes, please ensure that your child’s gi is in good condition and appropriately fitted. Personal Hygiene: Students should come to class with clean hands and feet. Fingernails and toenails should be trimmed short for safety. Hair should be tied back if long to prevent it from getting in the way during practice. No Jewelry: For safety reasons, jewelry (including earrings, rings, necklaces, and bracelets) should be removed before class. Arrival Time: Please arrive 10-15 minutes before the start of class to ensure your child is prepared and ready to begin on time. Late arrivals may miss important warm-up exercises. Water Bottle: It is important for students to stay hydrated during class. Please send your child with a water bottle clearly labeled with their name. Respect and Focus: Judo emphasizes respect for others and the sport itself. Students are expected to listen to instructors, follow directions, and demonstrate good sportsmanship. Parents are encouraged to watch and cheer, but please refrain from interrupting or coaching from the sidelines. Safety First: Judo involves physical contact, and students will learn how to fall safely (breakfalls) and execute techniques with control. Our instructors prioritize safety, but we ask that you remind your child to be mindful of their own well-being and that of their classmates. Absences: If your child is unable to attend a class, please notify us in advance if possible. Consistency is key to progress, so regular attendance is encouraged. Parent Participation: Occasionally, parents may be asked to assist with warm-ups or activities. Your support is greatly appreciated! Class Etiquette: When entering or leaving the mat area, students should bow as a sign of respect. This is a fundamental part of Judo tradition that helps instill discipline and focus.
