Wednesday 6:30PM This class is designed for students who need to enhance their skill and technique to incorporate them in advanced mariachi repertoire in preparation for performing with professional, studio recording mariachi groups. These are some of the following techniques and concepts used throughout the semester: Proper Right hand and Left hand technique Major and Minor chord progressions Etude Assignments to enhance classical techniques (e.g. right hand p, I, m, a) Ranchera, Bolero, Son repertoire (e.g. La Negra, El Gavilan, Fiesta en Jalisco etc.)
All students must be tuned prior to class. (tuned at A=440Hz) Be prepared to learn new concepts every class and please be in an area with no distractions so the instructor has your undivided attention. Instructor expects students to practice all of the objectives that were reviewed in class independently (at home). In order to ensure knowledge retention, we recommend to practice at least 30 minutes to 2 hours daily. Have Fun!
